support PCNW

Each year PCNW focuses on a specific issue, program, or facilities need for our Fund-a-Need donations. This year our Fund-a-Need cause will be providing arts education and teacher training programs. Studies show that teaching the arts to young people engages students, enhances self-esteem, helps build critical thinking skills, provides a gateway to other subject areas, enhances interpersonal skills and cooperation. The arts help students to become innovators, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.

PCNW is expanding our support and contribution to arts education for young people by providing a resource for arts educators as well as providing youth programs for middle and high school students.

Over the coming year, PCNW is building a relationship with the Seattle Public Schools to provide professional development for teachers. In addition, we are expanding our gallery education program to include educational guides for visiting schools. These guides will allow teachers of other subject areas, such as social studies and language arts to use our exhibitions as a tool in their curriculum.

PCNW will also be collaborating with Youth In Focus and other local and national institutions to provide mentorship and other opportunities for high school seniors and college age students who are interested in pursuing the arts as a career. Your support will allow us to offer additional scholarships, greater accessibility to our facilities, increased educational programs, and administrative time to develop partnerships in these areas.
